Sky Patterns
Sky Patterns is a musical project for Paul Lockett, based near South Manchester in the north
of England.
Paul originally began writing songs back in the nineties, and has been active in several Manchester-based bands.
The idea of releasing new material evolved after Paul initially wrote several songs that he wanted the world to hear,
maybe as an EP, however he quickly went on to write a whole bunch of additional material. With all of these songs in
his set, the idea of an album took shape.
Sky Patterns was born.
The idea of naming the project Sky Patterns took its cue predominantly from the subject matter
of several songs that reference the world around us, the ocean, the sky, and the shoreline. The idea that we're just
a tiny speck in a huge galaxy, where Mother Nature has the upper hand.
Songs such as 'Shoreline', 'Colours Of Our Day', and 'The Secret Garden' describe how we connect with our planet.
There are also moments of reflective childhood memories, particularly in 'Northern Belle' and 'Yesterday'; and our personal
relationships and friendships, captured in songs such as 'You Are My World' and 'Chemical Reaction'.
Answers On A Postcard
Sky Patterns' debut album 'Answers On A Postcard', released on March 7th 2025, brings together a beautiful collection of songs, written mainly during the second-half of 2024.
Musically, the sound leans towards alt-rock, based around Paul's talent as an acoustic guitarist, while certain songs touch into elements of both folk and also alt-pop.
